i got diagnosed with OCD when i was 15. i have it where i have this little vooice in my head (like a second person, or the devil on my shoulder) and it tells me i have to do something or touch something or something really bad will happen. it is getting out of control. for example if it says i have to touch the broom or a brooom, i have to do that in the next 10 seconds otherswise i can so strange and panic.
does anyone else have this same type of ocd? it gets me scared and i need help

I actually just got diagnosed with OCD, even though I've had it since jr high. Mine sounds sort of similar, but it's based off symmetry. Often if I touch something with one hand or foot, I have to touch it with the other as well, or I start getting really anxious.
I also have "depressive obsessive thinking." I'm not sure how common it is, but it's really annoying.

wow, that's exactly what i have, symmetry thing i mean.
If i touch something with one hand, i have to touch it with the other etc, my whole live just revolves around it =\ i guess its like second nature now, Ive had it forever.

i could never step on a crack ever,
and if there was a fence or a lampost or anything that came out the ground
i would have to pretend to step over it,
i even did it in the car with my feet when trees went past
if i didnt do it, i felt like the car or my feet would melt.

QFT...
I was diagnosed last summer, but haven't really done anything about it... I've had it so long and done the things I do for so long that it really doesn't hinder me, too much...

I get the symmetry. But for me I have to tap my fingers in certain patterns. And if I accidently start the pattern I have to finish it. Or I'll rub the tip of my finger with my thumb, and I have to do it to all my other fingers in a sequential order. If I don't apply the same amount of pressure or do it for the same length of time I'll have to balance it with the other ones, and sometimes that gets me out of my pattern, and then I have start it all over to make the sequence right. It's not to the point where it gives me anxiety, and I usually am not even fully focused on it, but sometimes it does get on my nerves, kinda like the way it gets on your nerves if you see someone has a hair stuck to their sweater or their collar is crooked or something.
I used to have severe panic attacks and anxiety and zoloft worked really well for me. I tried a lot of anti-depressants through different doctors and even a shrink and I liked those the best. But I don't like being dependent on pills so I don't take anything for it. And it's not nearly as bad as it used to be anyhow.

I have the same pressure thing. It makes typing a bother because after, I have to press my pinkies on several keys before I am satisfied. They feel tingly and I get anxious if I don't but I suppose it is mind over matter and I just have some twisted OCD. :)

When I was younger I had the oddest thing where when I was sittin on the toilet seat, if I was sittin there for longer than 20 secs then somethin would happen unless i turned around and looked at the cistern at the pattern on the top of it. then i could sit down for another 20 secs but only 20 secs tops!!! It was so scary and then when flushin it I would stand stock still because if i didn't then somethin would happen too.
it was terrifying. I don't remember gettin over it i just remembered about it years later and wondered what the hell it was. but it sounds like what you guys go through daily and I'm really sorry to hear it- I would say never resign yourself to not gettin better tho. i mean i think it's possible for everyone to heal. mind over matter x
irishgirl I had that when I was smaller but more related to my bathroom & mirroring reflections on none purpose-mirror surfaces & the nighttime, I couldn't stay in my bathroom long when it is dark or something might get me or if I look in the mirror something may be behind me, horrific feelings, I still have problems with reflections to an extent, I know nothing is going to happen now but I just still hate it.
I also had an OCD so when I looked in the mirror I had to pul this scream like face that scared me to death.
Oh it was horrific, I am soo glad that part of my childhood is over.

So i guess i have had OCD for as long as i can remember and i never knew what it was until i seen an episode on MTV's true life about OCD and watched it and thought OMG im not the only one with this problem. I just thought i was weird or crazy or something but im just glad im not alone with it. Mine started out with the symmetry thing too. If i stepped on a crack or something with one foot i have to do it with the other. If i touched a door knob with one hand i had to turn it with the other too. Every thing had to be even. I did things according to numbers i never knew why i did it i just knew it was really annoying. Its not as bad now as it was a few years ago. I still catch myself doing it sometimes without even realizing it. Usually i can hide it pretty well though so no one even notices.

Hello All,
I have got OCD with cleanliness, i cant stand being in dirty surroundings at all, it is hard where i live as i am staying at my ex's house until my own is ready to move into, and it is not kept that clean. My own place was so crystal clean all the time. Can't wait to move.

I have that, too. If I scratch my left arm by the wrist, then I have to scratch the right the same. I wonder if I have OCD??
