Ok, this is a little random, but I just HAVE to tell someone about this lady that I work with. She's 38 and bipolar with Boderline Personality disorder. Last years she had a pretty bad breakdown which ended in 3 suicide attempts and her moving 18 hours and 4 states away from her ex-husband, ex-boyfriend, and children (3). She was put on Seroquel, Lithium, and klonopin. I have worked with her for 6 months and she is just kind of off...
When she found out I was bipolar she began talking to me... all the time.... about sex, men, pills, cutting, whatever, whenever. Anyways about 3 months ago she refused to take her lithium or her seroquel bc she said they were making her fat (Weight gain is indeed a side effect of seroquel... Im not sure about lithium). She started making herself throw up to counter the weight gain. Her docs tried her on Lamictal and it made her manic. Just about 3 or 4 weeks ago she stated Neurontin. I don't know if any of you have tried Neurontin, but I have and I don't think it did anything for me except to make me too dizzy to drive or go to school.
Anyways, I kept telling her she needed to get back on the lithium and seroquel bc I could see her getting closer and closer to losing it. Also she was telling me that she was cutting again but I guess I know so many people that do that I kind of just ignored it. Weeellll.... I'm not sure what set her off but 2 weeks ago something happened at work (still not sure what it was) and she flipped her shit! She was calling 2 of the managers at their homes making death threats to them and harassing them all night in addition to cutting her wrists again so the police came to her house and forced her to be committed on a 5150 (involuntary psych eval).
This is where it gets weird. Apparently when they checked her into CPAT (Center for Psychiatric And Addiction Treatment) they couldn't find her cell phone and she kept her legs crossed really tightly... Do you get where I'm going with this? She was hiding her cell in her va-jay-jay... Can you imagine??? Ew! And what was she going to do with it when she took it out?? Put it up to her face and use it?? They do have phones in CPAT.
That was singularly the strangest thing I have heard in QUITE some time so I had to share...
