Im sorry hon.. That sounds really difficult.
I can't relate to that. I just know that from dealing with not eating for long periods of time, then binging and purging it, my normal meal is wack when i try to eat,,and i end up eating way too much...
Like just now.. In my head i say i want to recover..and be happy.. but i end up eating way too much and feel guilty then purge it..
And no matter what i feel fat because of how i look.. and it's not just in my head.
I play soccer so i have big thighs (from muscle) and just feel sooo Fat.
So i'm sorry i can't really relate too much.. And i do believe you though. and you'll find support on here i hope. Best of luck, and sorry this was so long.

i'm really sorry, it sounds like a really hard and frustrating thing to be going through. i dont have the same issue, but i can relate to doctors and family not taking you serious. for the past couple years i get really really sick with pains and my stomach and sleep for a week or so at a time and only wake up for a few minutes or so, but doctors always just ignore it, or sometimes even say i'm faking it.
i hope that you can get to a point where you're happy with yourself, as everyone deserves to be.

I have exactly what you have and better yet have heard of it being an actually disorder. Here's an article on it that I found online To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. I've suffered from this as long as I can remember. Rumination disorders in adolescents and adults go usually unreported, which is why all the internet literature you can find is about children and the mentally disabled, but they do exist in normal people like you and me.
Ironically enough my rumination disorder disappeared when I started self inducing vomiting. But if you want to use your rumination disorder to its fullest weight loss advantage drink more water, especially before the meal.

Thanks guys.
I'm so sorry about the doctors ignoring you, too. Honestly? I've gotten to the point where I think they're almost all a**holes. I'll go in with serious symptoms and, if they don't know what's wrong with me, they'll say it's nothing or that I'm too emotional and the stress is making it happen *sigh*. It's their favorite thing to do: if they don't know what to do, it's YOUR fault, because you're either making it up or causing it to happen to yourself.
When I do get down to the weight I want to be at...ESPECIALLY if I get down that low, haha...I'll seek help at an eating disorder clinic. Technically rumination disorder IS an eating disorder...and lord knows I have traces of the others too...so maybe someone there will help me.
But there's no way I'm going to stop when I'm still 50 pounds overweight. :-/
low carb low Gl diet+ weight training and HIIT (high intensity interval training-google it) I am a personal trainer and have helped many people like you-lost causes, they like to think. It's all a matter of knowing what is actually healthy and doing it. Weight training will be your deus ex machina though. And no, you won't get bulky.
Have you had your thyroid stimulating hormone checked? You should go in for some blood work.

I can relate to the BMI thing. My BMI is huuge, before all my eating troubles, i was about 60kgs(125 poundsish?), and i thought i was pretty average size, but my BMI said i was obese... Thats how it all kind of started for me, the eating issues. It doesnt help im quite short.

It must be so hard not being taken seriously by doctors, I cannot relate to what you do but I do know a girl in one of my ED units that used to do that after every meal. Unfortionately Dr's are crap at diagnosing ED symptoms unless you have text book symptoms. Rem one of my early Dr's saying to me that he didn't know what I was because I didn't have all the symptoms in his text book, name one perosn that does have them all, we are all different, out Ed effects us all in different ways. Hang in there hun, and persist looking for help if that is what you want, you will get there in the end. Be careful with the purging hun, as it can cause a drop in Potassium which is necessary for your heart. One of my friends died of heart attack due to low potassium.

Hi there, I actually googled to see if other people had the same deal as me. I too, am a ruminant, haha! I just find the label funny. For the most part I just re-ingest what comes up (especially if it's Chinese food). Side question: Why are you always hungry after eating Chinese food? Lol. I know, tmi! Anyways, I also read the same article you linked and I don't know if the ability to regurgitate is so much an eating disorder... although combined with a case of bulimia I guess it can be classified as such.
The only advice I can give you is that purging really isn't the answer. I work out too and it's tough, ie. you keep checking the scale every day to see if you've lost weight and there's minimal impact. All I can say is keep at it and don't get discouraged. Your body still needs time to adjust to a new metabolism from your combined efforts. In the end it will all be worth it.
Also regarding those BMI things lol, according to the Wii Fit, I'm obese. I think that's what started it all, when a video game tells you you're fat.

yes i had rumination also i did research on it to, and it hella bugged me that i was an infant or retarded i thought myself to be quite normal but with this eating problem, i also went to the doctors and they gave me anti acids, i was a couple months later diagnosed with bulimia because it just got worse and worse and i never force it still i lean over and its gone, i have never once in my life stuck my finger down my throat comes completely naturally my body just chooses to reject it and it's a mental switch, that allows my body to do it, guilt triggers it not my hand. i hope yours does not progress like mine has. u dont need to binge to purge. and u dont need to force the purge to do it. and not many ppl know this cuz in a general overview...they just assume it is a binge purge cycle...sometimes its not a cycle its just on going
