Hi Everyone,
I am have just joined and feeling a bit down, i ve been trying to get some support from some eating disorder associations but they only help under 25's and i m 41years old:( I have had Anorexia Nervosa now since i was 13 years old and it seems that most of the associations only see Anorexia in children and young women, so that is why i joined the forum. Is there anyone else out there that is over the age of 25 that can chat to me?

Hiya CountingRibs,
no sure speaking to younger people is fine, i dont have a problem with it at all, but these counselling helplines and assocations only work for under 25's some are under 16 and its a misconception that it only affects the young, not that i m old old but you know what i mean, i ve never had counselling for my illness so it hasnt got any better only worse as the years pass. So this forum is really the best avenue for me, and i m so pleased that i came across it, as i d still be on my own with it all.:)

I am writing 2 novels about anorexia, one is a non-fiction book telling about all the facts and what it is like through the eyes of an anorexic person as most of books on it are from doctors who havent ever had it and the second book is a fiction book of a 13 year old girl who has a 2 year battle with anorexia, but it has a sad story she dies in the end. I m hoping both books will help alot of people:)

PLEASE eat more for the sake of the baby! Don't do it for yourself; do it for your child. You wouldn't starve a child who was born, would you? Then please don't starve this baby in the womb! :(

thanx for the advice size8jeans, i am eating a bit more, i was feeling guilty about it, the baby so needs food, but now i feel guilty for eating, i feel like i dont deserve it!
I had half of a meal tonight, and i feel bloated, it feels awful, i am thank ful for eating for the baby sake, but i feel guilty, like i m bad for eating, i know its stupid to feel like this, but why cant i give myself a break, especially now when i need to feed the baby:(

I have not posted here before. Been lurking quietly, but like you.. feel a little 'out of place here', as I too am older.....43! guess that makes me the oldest member eh!!! :(
I have suffered ED's since my mid to late teens. I am a figure skater, and weight awareness is drummed into you from the very moment you start serious training. I also did pairs... you asolutely could not be carrying any excess weight, and therefore I became obsessed with keeping my weight as low as I could go.
I am older now, and it's not as crucial to 'conform', however the seed was sewn, and I can never go back. I think about my weight/calorie consumption every waking moment. It's so exhausting, and mentally draining.
After a long time suffering with anorexia, I became bulimic. great .... nice swap eh, and ever sinse, have swung between episodes of the two. At the moment I am more towards an anorexia stage.
I also am battling an alcohol dependency, and cyclothymia (a condition similar to bi polar). So you can say life sucks right now.
I am so, so glad you posted. I don't feel so obscure anymore. So thanks for having the courage to post. Maybe we can be a support to each other.
With love, Max xx
