View Full Version : Any good tips on reducing appearance of scars?
I'm going on holiday soon and am dreading getting my body out anyway but too top it off i've got some scars up the side of my leg that are pretty noticeable and all up my arms and wrists.
I'm on holiday with my boyfriend and will be sooo embarrassed if they ask me how i got them :(

I have the same problem, especially since mine are hypertrophic scars (basically, really red and raised scars that rarely disappear over time). I had to go to this specialist place and get injections in them (apparently one of the same chemicals they use in chemo, it burned so so bad for days afterwards). I probably got over 250 injections in all of my hypertrophed scars. I'm supposed to go back and get more, but they are really expensive and I can't afford it right now. Those injections and laser treatments are the only way to get rid of the type of scars I have (they will then look like regular scars...).
I know there are certain creams/gels you can get that can reduce the redness in scars. I think you might need a prescription for it, but you could always go down to your local drug store and search around and/or ask the pharmacist.

why not try bio oil? or the cheaper version rescue oil? i find they do both work to reduce the appearance of my scars, they dont completely remove them but then again nothing does! if your consistent in applying it then i promise you should see a difference with time. what have u got to lose by trying?
Thanks everyone!
Will give bio oil a try, used it once before but didn't see any differenced, think I gave up hope too quickly.

I use bio-oil. It seems to be helping. Hopefully they'll not be noticeable by summer. It's taken a while though.
