Is anyone here home schooled, or ever been homeschooled? Would you recommend it, and if not, why?
I am trying to pusaude my mom into letting me be homeschooled to do my a levels. I've had enough of college and everyone there. I've had enough of time. I've had enough of getting up a 7 ever morning to get ready for college, to get the bus, to do the same lessons, to come home and to do coursework and hop right back into bed. I hate people setting routines for me and telling me what to do and when to do it. It's gotten so bad that I started skipping far to many classes since December and just doing my work at home anyways. I find that I work better on my own terms, at my own rate, by myself. At college I am always distracted with trying to fit in, and look right, and say the right things, that I am not learning. It's stupid. I hate it when the teachers pull me aside and say all kinds of stuff to me. I feel that I would benefit more from working at home, when I can wake up at 10am, and can do my work in my PJs because I feel like it. I think I will be better off in my own bubble at home until I gain more confidence. Does that make sense? Do you think that I would benefit from home schooling, or more from college?

heya...I'm homeschooled and I LOVE it. I can get up in the morning at whatever time I think is necessary, skip the shower if I feel like, tutor myself and take as long as I need to on tests. I can even break tests down into parts and study for one part at a time. it's awesome...I've never been to public school but if I was in public school I would never make it because I need to work at my own pace.

tell your mom it's totally worth it! plus there's no deadline age that you automatically have to stop at...if you need more time you take it :D you def sound like you could benefit from homeschooling. I can even do extra schoolwork one day so I can take off the next^^

the only thing i see thats flawed in the plan is the prospect of depression.....
I prefer to stay home in my pj's most of the time, i dont like very many people or social situations.
But i find if i dont get out, even if i dont want to, i end up spiraling into depression
But thats just probably me and my own fucked up issues!

Hey I was homeschooled for almost my entire school career. I don't think it was right for me, but maybe that was just my parents. They are hardout hippies and wanted me to be an artist, with the result that I knew no basic math, and no chemistry until I went to university. I failed a couple of papers despite studying REALLY hard due to the fact that 13 years is really a lot to catch up. I did manage to get a B in my maths paper though. When I told my lecturer that the most maths I'd done before was addition he was so shocked, because the paper I was taking was advanced calc and linear algebra.

I was, and I loved it. In college now, and miss being able to do what I wanted! But there's also a benefit in being around tons of people and having professors who specialize in what they're teaching. pros/cons... y'know. But I do recommend it and will do it with my kids, God-willing.

BUT, be forewarned- you will be home (i.e. under supervision) for many more hours than previously. Any ED will be so much harder to hide. Just keep that in the back of your mind.

The answer is online school...
I love it!
But at the same time it gets really lonely and can become depressing.
