So I've been told I fit in with this category... I'm not skinny...and suddenly one day I started restricting myself from food. I eat under 600 calories everyday..probably under 400. I cannot stop moving sometimes and I have given up a lot of my interests. All i want to do is sleep but then I can't and i need to move. Sounds a bit like depression as well but I have no intention of asking a doctor. So I just keep my little diary and count every calorie i consume...including gum. I may be eating less calories than I said above because I think I increase the calories when I write them down and I never go over 600. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Not sure, but sounds like anorexic behavior

But I guess a diagnosis of anorexia does involve a low weight? So yeah, I guess people might consider you ED-NOS

Falling - sounds to me like classic anorexia. Keep going as you are and you'll soon enough be at a weight which will confirm that diagnosis - but I think in your case it's just a formality. It is weird how 1lb either side of a supposed weight means people are ana or not ana, though having been in and out of various clinics and noticed the diets and 'normal' weightloss of my friends without eds, I guess it's important to distinguish between the two. Anyway, be careful Falling. xx

How long have you been doing this for? That's a key point.

Sounds like anorexia, but you don't have a low weight.
BUT if you continue doing this you will be
low weight then considered anorexic.
So, I think your into the startings of anorexia.
Hope all goes well.

ok.. so if you're "fat" and not eating anymore than "X" amount of calories, what is it? Just a really strict diet? but if you hit "X" weight, you're suddenly anorexic? How do dr's think you got from "fat" to "X" weight?

To be anorexic you generally cant be having periods (unless you are recovering etc)

And under 85% of 'expected' weight

If you dont fit into these, but obviously have disorded eating (restricted cals etc) Id say you are EDNOS, like me, im not underweight, and i get periods.

So you can have anorexic mindsets, or syptoms (hair loss is a biggy for me, fagitue etc) which is called 'anorexic tendencies'.

So EDNOS with anorexic tendencies? Its really not about labels anyway, we are all here because we have food issues at the end of the day.

yeah, i would say psychologically, you have issues with eating in a healthy manner so yeah, ednos.

i feel the same way! But I don't want to stop, i want to lose more weight. I've already lost 2lbs and I'm very excited about it. I want to be 120 or less by August. I've been restricting myself to 800 cals max. everyday, preferably 500-600. I don't want to go under because I get really light headed and I hate that feeling...Hopefully i'll get used to it in time.

i would say, right now you're on a strict diet and seeing the benefits of it. i don't know how tall you are so who knows. i think you know you have a problem if when you reach your goal weight, you're not satisfied.
