Hey Everyone .... x

Im new on this site and am in desperate need of a kick up the arse ! So im going to try the Abc diet ... i've not actually attempted this before but it looks really great ..... its a 50 day long restriction diet thing which is supposed to trick your metabolism because you are having different amounts of calories each day ..... im kinda worried though in 50 days there is only 6 days of fasting WTF! so i might have to change that a bit i will definatly need to fast more often than that ...... anyway here is the list :

*edited*

I was just wondering if any of you had actually tried the ABC before ..... and if you have what was your results like ...... and how did you feel about doing it ..... ?

Im planning on going back to being vegan aswell so no dairy or eggs or anything ... im also not going to have any bad carbs so no bread, pasta, rice etc. so i'll pretty much just be having fruits and veg, and maybe some tofu and nuts on the higher cal days ..... i wil be needing some protein .... x

Sorry for rambling please reply and let me know if you've tried this before, i'd be really interested to know how it went for you ? Im so determined !

Thanks alot dolls x N x

i have never tried ABC.. it sounds like a good idea in principle, it basically the same as what i do, varying calories and fasts, but i tend to fast more often so that i can save some calories to eat in front of others...

having said that i dont feel like i have lost this week, so maybe i should try this instead!

one more week til the end of march challenge, then im going to reassess where i am, if iv not lost much il join you on this.

I'm new on here too! :)

That sounds like a good diet. It would be challenging for me on the fasting days and such because I have to eat with my family, but I think I will try it.

Good luck!

hey hun, if i were you i would only fast tomorrow if that's what it says to do, otherwise at the party if there is food there you might be tempted to have some (i know i would if i had fasted that day).

Also it will ensure that your metabolism doesn't shut down which is what the diet is designed for.

Hey I am trying to do this but it is really hard right now. A show I'm in called "Everything in the Garden" is currently running so I have to eat before going on stage otherwise I'm far too likely to pass out... it has happened.

So I'm not doing very well... today I ended with 666 calories all together.

*sigh* I feel so fat and disgusting I can barely stand it. Sometimes I wish I could take a knife and just carve the fat off my body... *cries* In truth I'm not doing very well today but it's alright... I will get this back under control...

i really want to do this!!! it looks very similar to some plans i have tried in the past. the only problem is my birthday is in 10 days and i my family is taking me out to the melting pot (soooo yummy but soooo many calories!) i'm considering starting the ABC and then fasting 2 days before my birthday and 3 days after. i just don't wanna binge and then have to purge.

I started ABC today and can't wait to see the results. I've tried to find people who have made it till the end but with no luck..:( So I really hope I'm gonna be the one!

So far I've had * so as it is my day one, i still have * to go. I'm trying to follow the rules correctly, cause I know this is not gonna work if I eat * cals every day.

So wish me luck!:)

Oh my god i'm doing this and it's amazing!!! I've lost 7 lbs. this week! Only 30 lbs. to go! You all have gotta do this diet! Try it this summer and you will be amazed at all teh weight you will loose! I think it really does trick your metabolism to process food faster so it doesn't stay on your body. Most of the weight I loose is pure fat! Do it!

Hey,
I am new to this forum and actually new to all of this. I'm a dancer and dance 4-5 hours a day, but need to have a plan or else I will binge! This weekend was full of stress and disastrous in terms of eating. I have decided to start this diet, but added about 300 calories to each day since I dance so much and that's about a quarter of what I burn dancing (I can still lose tons of weight but avoid being caught or passing out in dance class)

Problem is, all of my friends think I am too skinny already...not true! so I have no one to talk to for support. I was wondering if someone here would be willing to correspond with me on a daily basis so I have someone to check in with and vent to. It would be best if you are also doing the diet, but in general just someone who knows what it's like to want to lose weight and feel like crap when you don't.

Looking for support
just need someone to talk to.

Luck to you all
drink water...it helps sooooooo much!

I soooo don't like this diet. I'd rather do it on my own without having to follow each day. Of course you can adjust it for you but if I'm sticking to a 50 day plan, I want to stick with it! In 50 days something is going to come up where you have to take in more calories...Like eating with family, friends. I have to go to my friends 21st birthday thursday and she wants to go out to dinner with all the girls. I HAVE to eat a whole real meal :( The only way I've done the abc diet is by throwing in bad days. Liiike....I might be forced to eat on day 10 so I'll eat whatever I have to and then start day 10 the next day and always keep in mind that I'll have days where I can't control what I eat because of other people. It's sooo much simpler to just do it on your own without rules though and then you don't have to feel as guilty about having naughty days and ruining your diet...

I was just wondering, If you do excerise to burn calories, does that "count", or is this actually based on the number of calories you're supposed to take in, and the amount of exercise you do doesn't matter??

So, I'm probably going to get banned for this, spammed at furiously, ignored, yelled at on teh interwebz, and have my account deleted etc. etc. et al for this, but I just can't understand how people try to do this and wonder why they bounce back in weight, or have so much trouble staying thin, so here I am to save the day. Sit down everyone, I'm about to learn you the human body. It has taken evolution 4 billion (with a b, as in a thousand millions, or 4x10^9) years to produce the species who currently dominates the Earth, man. In case you are wondering, that's 2 million times longer than our current era which we call AD. In all that time, we have developed an immensely complicated and efficient metabolic system which has stood the test of time by being able to adapt and overcome famines, shortages, ice ages, wars, corporate hunger strikes and just about anything the world can throw at it. Here I will simplify how your body does this, because perhaps some understanding may help some of you choose a different path towards weight loss and overall fitness. The method your body metabolizes and decides how best to keep you running is simple in that it runs on a variety of "modes" suited towards survival. These "modes" include: storage (when you eat to much, converting excess energy into fat in much the same way that bears do before hibernation), survival (when you're in the wilderness fighting off polar bears and big foot, trying to keep your body warm, and hunting for your food, during which you burn between 4500 and 7000 calories a day), athletic (as the name implies, leading an active life style, burning an above average amount of calories but not fighting for your life and trying to keep body heat up), normal (the "mode" you occupy when you go about your day to day minutia, burns roughly 2000 calories a day), and starvation (where you eat too little and your body compensates by storing energy). We will only concern ourselves with starvation, normal and athletic modes for this discussion, as I don't think many of you are going to the arctic or are feasting sumptuously on the fat of the land on a day to day basis.
So, now that we know a few of the basic "modes" your metabolism goes through to keep you going, here is where you fit in. During a normal day, your body is preprogrammed to burn an appropriate amount of calories for your height and weight, about 2000 in the statistically average person. You don't have to do anything, you could sit on the couch and play video games all day (which does actually burn calories, at least more than watching television does, but thats another discussion). If you want to maintain your current weight, you need to eat that same amount in energy (calories and carbs, some fruit too, but its negligible in comparison). If you want to lose weight, you eat less than your average, but here's the tricky part; if you eat too little, 55% of your natural calorie burn or less, your body goes into starvation mode and starts to store that energy. What this does in turn is slow down your metabolism (basically your body thinks its in an environment that is experiencing a famine, and is trying to keep you from dying by stockpiling resources, ie food), which in turn slows down and can even reverse weight loss. Strange huh? If you want even stranger, look at super athletes (we're talking olympians) like Michael Phelps. He eats 12,000 calories a day, 6 times the average, and he has under 10% body fat. The real solution to dieting is diet AND exercise. How about Takery Kobayashi? He eats competitively, sometimes taking in 20,000 calories in a sitting. How does he still have a body like a little Japanese Adonas do you ask? The answer is all in the work out.
Here, I'll give you a personal example. I am a college student in the southeast United States. I come from an average middle class family. I'm also a male since I haven't previously made that clear. I never did sports in high school, and was never really super serious about getting in shape until the summer between my junior and senior year (I was trying to impress a girl, it worked [okay, so it was also the flowers and writing her poetry and what not] and then she broke my heart, such is life). Going in to High School I was 5'11" and a hefty 250 pounds. Chubby is not even close to what i was. Over the years I grew a little, finally settling at a lofty 6'3" going into that summer, and still sporting my weight, 260 at that point. I met the girl. I got determined. I started eating right, about 1700 calories a day (much less than I had been eating at that point), and working out. Everyday I'd jog a mile and a half down my road and back, do some sit ups (not that I have or had abs, which are a real pain to get >.<) and finish with some pushups. It was incredibly hard work, it sucked even, but it was worth it. You see, because I was eating so much before, my metabolism had compensated by increasing. It didn't cover all the calories I ate, but in 3 years I only gained 10 pounds. That summer with the combined effort of good eating habits and exercise, I lost 40 pounds. In two and a half months, 40 pounds. To some of you, thats probably not a lot. To me, I wouldn't trade it for one of these super hardcore diets plus a million dollars (maybe a billion dollars, I've always wanted to buy my own island...), and the reason is that now, 3 years into college, I'm 6'4", 240 pounds, and 15% body fat. I work out, I eat right, sometimes I even eat way too much, but my safety net (my metabolism) keeps me balanced.
I'm not saying I know everything, but I am saying that maybe instead of trying to trick your metabolism you should look into how your body works, and try to work with it instead of against it, because its had 4 billion years to evolve and you haven't; it knows how to fight back when its threatened, even if its you that's threatening it. Here's my advice in a nutshell: 1, look up the average calorie consumption for someone your height and weight. 2, write down a weekly diet and exercise routine that starts at your natural (according to the average from your research) calorie need, and try to cut out about 3500 calories through diet and exercise a week. According to science (I'm an engineering major, but I like to dabble) 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat. You can try a little more, but no more than 5250 calories (1 and a half pounds) out of your weekly program, any more and you start to go back to starvation mode. Is this going to be quick? No. Is it going to be pleasant? Hell no. Does it work? Yes. All those actors, celebrities, TV personalities, models, and generally beautiful skinny people live on programs like this. Also, you can take it from me, guys like girls with a few curves. The human body lives in three dimensions so don't try to flatten yourselves out to two, its not as divine a form.

PS Sorry for using divine in a sentence.
PPS Although it is the best way to describe the female body.
PPPS Someone famous originally penned that whole "divine form of the female body", but I don't remember who.
PPPPS Don't hate on me.

I don't think you understand .
Do you not think ive had days where ive woken up and thought" right thats it i'm doing this the healthy way i'm going to have enough calories and an hour exercise per day .. the weight will come off slowly but i don't care" and thats fine for a day but then the voice inside my head tells me "you really think your going to lose weight eating all that?" also .. and this sounds sick to you i guess i miss the feeling of hunger i miss my stomach growling and feeling so in control of myself .. so yes i get the human body and how it works .. We are NOT all stupid here.

I think you are all misinterpreting his comment. Personally, I didn't read it as a critique of EDs but a critique of the ABC diet which is based on the absurd notion that varying your calories by the hundreds can "trick" your metabolism into not going into starvation mode. I admit that some of it sounds condescending "you should look into how your body works" (most of us are quite well informed) but overall, the fact that he posted it on the ABC thread instead of making his own puts me on his side. The ABC diet is honestly ridiculous.

The comment "...only got to day 6 i lost 5lbs" proves my point.

I ♥ Gollum. Thank you for at the very least understanding what I'm trying to explain (albeit poorly explain). Before anyone else jumps on the "you don't understand mental illness's" bandwagon, my uncle is schizophrenic and I've had to assist him for years, so I know a little bit about disorders and the like. This was not my point however, as Gollum pointed out. I was also not saying that anyone is stupid, nor was I trying to be condescending. If I offended anyone, I apologize. I will not however apologize for pointing out how ludicrous diets of these sort are; if you cannot handle that fact then I don't feel the need to try to rationalize with you.

PS weightkate, I enjoy banter, please keep it up, its like a little ray of sunshine in my day.

I start this on Thursday.
Not to mention that I'm getting work done on my jaw, so this should work out great since that will already stop me from eating as much.

But, I'm scared.
I need someone I can talk to when it gets to the rough points where I feel like I can't stop myself from eating.

Hi iam also new to this site and doing the abc diet! ITS AMAZING AND WORKS! i am on week two and have drop 5lbs a week If you go to losertown and put in your calculations its basically accurate. I am a model that need to get to a 0-4 and i work out like its my job hehe well it kinda is. Food is the enemy and I love it. plus i had to kick alcohol too! ITS AWFUL But the results of your body changing is worth more then a drunk night with people that are over weight..

But my mum's a weight trainer, so she eats very low calorie meals, anyways. *edit* Anyone want to do it with me or help me or vent or anything? :) Email me or add me on msn at To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Hey Guys.
So it's my birthday on thursday 21st october (TWO DAYSS!!!) so the next couple of days are going to be full of binges so will probably pile the stone ive lost back on. So decided on the sunday after my birthday, i am going to buy some scales, even though my mum said no :P and start this diet on the monday. Bit nervous as I have bad willpower :( But I need to be skinny so bad!

I'm doing this too. NOT because I am anorexic, because I'm not, but because I am sick of trying to eat a little and then eating a whole lot and purging :/ I am sick of purging, it's painful. So I have decided to set a cal intake and I thought that this seemed like a fair enough choice. *edit*

I was just curious if people have had better results by sticking as close as they could to the actual numbers?
It's just habit to eat under whatever guidelines given to me, but I feel like I'm cheating myself cos the whole point is to keep your body guessing.
Anybody have any different results by sticking to it or eating under?

Thanks

Yeah I did, but there's a) denial "well i'm still fat, and i do eat..." and b) 'that'll never happen to me' thinking that i can't shake.
Logically I know it can happen and I'm not an exception but that voice isn't as strong as the rest.

Hey everyone (:
Im new to this site.
And I started this today.
But heres a little bit about me, Ive been dieting/restricing on and off for the past two months and I have lost 23 pounds. That may seem like a lot, but its not because I do weigh a lot. I started at 198, and am currently stuck at 175.
*edit*
Soo anyways back to the abc diet .

Im very excited. I started today, and so far have done good.

So far doing this has paid off.

At this moment, im even more motivated by depression, just found out the guy I was dateing for the past 3 months doesnt want to be with me. Im convinced its because Im a fatty.
Started this at 175, Today is the start of day three and Im at 171.

Im hopeing to get to 150 by the end of the year, and eventually 115 oneday.

The first night I jogged one mile, soo about 15 minutes of jogging, and then I did about 30 minutes of crunches, leg lifts, and some arm stuff with small weights. Last night I just walked around town with my friends for about a hour.
So actually, I have been exerciseing a bit less then normal. Im planning on doing one of my normal workouts tonight. We will see the results in the morning.(:

Do you take diet pills? I dont >.< Im scared that when I quit them Ill gain the weight back.

Quite a lot of exercise! I'm scared of doing too much as I hate gaining bulky muscle. I have loads of bulky muscle as I used to be an semi-elite gymnast S:
No I don't. I have been tempted, but I'd have to find vegan ones, and I think they're a bit scary!

Im scared of not exerciseing. And I feel ickky when I dont. I used to be weigh 140, on a tone of diet pills, exerciseing every now and then, and just eatting every now and then, then I gained a lotttt of weight from a emotional event. Im afraid to gain it back once I get to my goal weight .But Im happy with not eatting a lot for the rest of life, being skinny is all that matters to me.

I just learned that my boyfriend's ex has lost 100 pounds. (Kill me.) Yeah she was big, but she isn't now. And she did it in 4 months. Gastric Bypass, I'm thinking. Hi girls, I'm going to start this tomorrow. Since I have a physical job (working at a horse barn, so I clean all the stalls, exercise horses, do laundry, etc. for 8-9 hours a day) I will add 200 to each day if needed. I'm hoping to lose 20 lbs. in a month! I don't have $$ for food which means even if I didn't have an ED I wouldn't be able to eat anyway, lol. How convenient.

wish me luck to stay strong, because this diet sounds pretty tough, especially when youŽre used to binge much and your stomach has gotten big because of it.

So this post is what brought me to this site. I searched ABC diet on google and here I am. I know no one is going to find out I'm on here. But I'm paranoid someone is going to find me on here and send me to a therapist.

A year ago I managed to lose 20 lbs (cheer cheer :) over a one week period. Emotional problems pushed me over the edge and the only way I could avoid feeling sick was not eating. I basically *edit* It was also my suicide. I wasn't going to commit suicide because I didn't want someone seeing my dead body... If I was going to die I wanted to fade away into nearly nothingness, so people could stare down at my starved, disciplined body in my coffin.

Then I fell victim to binge eating, that's my real eating problem. I've gotten better and my binge eating is now normal eating and trying to not eat. A year later I'm back to my original weight.
It's not so bad... people say great things about me and how I look. It's just the way I see myself that I can't get over. I hate my appearance... I look away and avoid the mirror, except to put make up on. People say I'm pretty and have a good body, but I can't see it. I guess I'm not so bad, I have a good chest which balances everything else out. But I still hate my body and my face. There's nothing I can do about my face, but at least maybe I can get the body I crave...

So that's my back story, I've decided I'm gonna try the ABC diet :) starting tomorrow along with visiting to the gym, if I'm lucky *edit* It's kinda what I had in mind all along, just written down from someone else's ideas. I'm gonna be determined to stick with it through to the end. Or until my desired weight of 115. Hopefully I like my body by then, I'd rather have some body than just bones. But if I had to choose between my body now and bones, I'd choose bones.

I'm brand new here, but i tried starting this diet as a way to get back into my old habits quickly, and it FAILED. i was trying to go from over 2000 calories a day to less than *edit*so that might have had something to do with it. but it still didn't work for me, though its great in theory.

There is a false belief that a diet which alternates the amount of calories eaten each day *edit* will 'trick' your metabolism but in actual fact, whether you believe it or not, your metabolism will slow down pretty much as soon as you hit the 1200 calorie or so mark. Will the ABC Diet make you lose weight? Yeah it probably will because you're essentially starving. Will the ABC Diet 'trick' your metabolism? Of course not, you're eating only *edit*. Your BMR is AT LEAST double that.

First time I lost 52 lbs. Second time I only lost 32lbs. Third time I lost about 15lbs. I don't do it for the "metabolism" effect. I like the challenge of the strict amounts and the fact that it does switch from day to day keeps me from getting bored. Currently I'm doing the SGD to get me through the holiday season.

To those refuting the possibilities of this diet having a metabolism-altering effect: You are right. However, this diet appears to be more of a psychological benefit, rather than a physical one. Humans accomplish a lot more when they are following rules and a routine. If someone was just "dieting" there would be room for a cheat, there would be room for a fast, etc, with no guidelines to follow. This diet, with its strict routine and guidelines keeps the mind on track in order to not stray from said diet.

Yes, a "*edit*" diet would be essentially the same, but the fact that you must alter your calories (with a purpose of "metabolism," as false as it may be) under conditions of the "guidelines" provide a much more authoritative aspect of the diet over the individual. Hence, the person performing the diet would be much more successful in staying on the diet.

EDIT: I've decided to start this today as well. I saw this thread today, and I've eaten exactly *edit* ABC day 1 is *edit* or less. So I just won't eat anything else today, and continue with this ABC diet. I'll put it in my signature.

I saw this thread today, and I've eaten *edit*. ABC day 1 is *edit*. So I just won't eat anything else today, and continue with this ABC diet. I'll put it in my signature.

Precisely! I've often thought about doing ABC more so to 'test' my will power than actually try to lose weight but then the smarter part of my mind goes, hang on, if you're really going to test yourself, why don't you try to eat more instead? Isn't that harder to digest (no pun intended)?

The boot camp commander maybe? I'm trying to google their name but I'm not coming up with anything. All I can get is "Ana" but she appears to be some sort of "goddess" and not actually involved in the management of the boot camp. ;)

Yeah I do wonder who came up with these figures.

Well without further ado,

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Hannah. New Member:)

This Thread prompted me to ad in.

I have been alternating between fasting -style days and *edit*intake for a while now.I have become much more aware of what I am eating, why, and what I can do to curb cravings. This is good

Unfortunately I didnt have the right food/drinks around me to feel comfortable with intake so I had a "f" it day and went to a buffet style restraunt.

Now that I have discovered the beautiful world of forums like this, I feel armed and ready !

So I am going to return to a maximum of *edit*, I will be joining boat with the ABC diet and hope it yields successful results

As silly as this may sound, my main goal is to allow myself to be in control of what goes into my body.

The average american is obese, and while I am no longer what you would call skinny, I havent met that level yet. And I do not intend to. Unfortunately most everyone in my family is chronically overweight and generally unhealthy. I would hope that the guidence I recieved as a child would help aid me in the right deciscions but I have discovered that I have to re-learn. No good examples to follow, but

Ive always been one for independence.

Im hoping this diet will help train my body to survive , so that I can learn to eat to live, not to eat just because its tasty food, or its what im around at that moment. That being said, I have to be careful, I have had periods of time where I would not eat under any cirumstance for sometimes days at a time. I am also borderline diabetic and have potassium deficiancy so I have to be somewhat aware when I am cutting off calories.

All that in mind I had some ideas and wanted to get some feed back, perhaps from those who have done this, are in progress, or curious to embark as well.

- *edit*I am not expecting it as a way to loose weight, just hoping itll provide the extra energy to keep on keeping on, as I do workout.

and many other random finds

I'm new to this site, just joined cus I saw this and thought I would comment.

Personally. The ABC diet didn't work, The problem with this diet for me, is it doesn't let you eat 'enough'.

what I have found works better is cut all sweet unnessasary food, only eat when very ungry, quick snack... toast, sandwhich, someyhing healthy, and have at least one good cooked meal. That way, you don't feel hungry..But trust me.. the weight drops off.

hope this was helpful

I'm probably going to try this next month. Because your stomach shrinks when you don't eat much, apparently (I am not certain). So I'd feel less hungry, and it would be more successful...
So I'll 'prepare' for it this month, if you get me.

I've been on ABC for the past 9 days, except I did a 2 day fast between Day 6 of it and today because I binged. I'm going to finish it. if I overeat on one day, I'll just fast the next day. *edit*, you can eat a large bulk of food without too many calories so it's good. I miss bread though, even though I only used to binge on it anyway, if I had one slice, I'd just like eat a whole loaf XD

The point is to target the calories, not to eat as little as possible. It's supposed to boost your metabolism. It you've only had half a cup of veggie soup in 3 days you're not following the diet right.

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I am preparing to start this diet next week. Should I exercise while on this diet? I have a lot of trouble getting to the gym, but with so few calories, I really don't see the need to anyway. I go to the gym when I get bored but not regularly. I am not really interested in building muscle... I just want to lose fat. For this diet to work, do I need to exercise? Thanks!

It will be my break too, so I'm also worried about the temptation. Plus I live with my grandma and she obsesses over my eating habits. Btw I know that it's none of my business, but how tall are you? 107 lbs is light and this diet seems extreme.... If you look back at the posts on this thread you can see that people lose like 30-50 lbs on it, and assuming you lose at least 30 your weight would be 77 lbs :/

I tried the abc diet about 2 years ago and it worked really good. I was always high or drunk sooo I lost track of where I was at after about 2 or 3 weeks in lol but I still lost weight. My friends that were doing it with me could even notice my weight loss. I just had a baby a month ago so I'm going to try this again starting tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else that is trying this =D

god not another one.

You know its all well and good some of you can 'afford' to lose the weight because your bmi is normal or overweight but you don't even consider people close to becoming underweight/anorexic or people that have/have-had a bmi Ranging from 10-18.5 and are really triggered by this thread. Their the ones that concern me because a lot of people on this forum are.

I'm on Day 8 right now. I've lost 5.8 pounds so far but I binged on Day 4 and then my weight remained the same after the binge for both Day 5 and Day 6. So, I probably would have lost a lot more... Keep in mind though, that I have a lot of weight to lose so that is probably why it is working so quickly.

I was on the Skinny Girl Diet before this (but I counted the calories of fruit).

Is anyone else on it? Has anyone else gotten any good results from this?

I came across this thread and omg, was just what I was looking for!
I have done the Ana Boot Camp Diet before, was about 3 years ago and I lost 40 lbs.
I went from 150lbs to 110lbs and I'm 5'5".
I just started back at it yesterday, so this is Day 2 for me and I'm loving it!
Now this time is a bit more dire...I would be happy with just 120lbs!
I weigh myself every morning and journal everything I eat, weight, body fat %, lean mass, and fat, as well as calories burned from working out...and my starting weight this time...god it's embarrassing, but was 170lbs! So yeah...about time to get back on track ya think!
I'm so siked about it and working out again feels sooooo good. Except this time my goal weight is 120-130 or 12-14% body fat...at least to where I have a little ab definition like I did back in the day. I know I could go on and on about this stuff lol.
Basically, here is what I do...
On Day 2 of the Ana Boot Camp Diet
I journal my thoughts and all that mentioned above daily.
Daily I calculate my Basal Metabolic Rate
I drink at least 1.5 (try for 2) Liters of water daily
I work at at least 30-60 minutes daily (usually jogging and resistance exercise bike)
I weigh myself and get my body fat (although more accurately weekly) every morning
...and that pretty much sums it up.

As I said, I started at 170lbs. And this morning was 165...somehow! And when I weigh myself I do it three times then get the average to be more accurate.

I'm glad to have found an outlet and others who can relate! Best wishes to all of you and best of luck ^_^ !

Yeah, for me getting started is the hard part. In the past I have once done it start to finish...have attempted, lol oh about half a dozen or so times. From my experience, after you get past week one it gets a little easier. You realize what you have already accomplished, it feels good, and keeps you motivated to keep going. The further along you get the easier it is and eventually it becomes just a part of you daily routine and nothing to it...for me that kicks in after about the 3rd or 4th week...and from that point I know for sure I'm good. Best thing to do is to think ahead about all the obstacles (birthdays, parties, etc) you might face and find a way to manage them ahead of time...

Luckily yesterday was only my Day 2...restarting tomorrow tho...there aren't many things that keep me from sticking to my diet...I really could care less about food...but today is my significant others birthday and we are going to get drunk tonight lol...But I still worked out today, twice as much as I usually do and burned about 700 calories on the resistance exercise bike, so I feel pretty good.

In the past I used to 'beat myself up' over things like going over my calories or not working out. But I've learned that the best way to handle it is instead of getting mad or depressed (and binging)...well I now just think of it as room for improvement, analyze the situation, and take control of what I really want and do something about it. Staying positive and learning to love yourself for all you have accomplished is really good motivation for me....not to mention how good it feels being empty or having worked out really hard...love that feeling...

Well, I typed more than I meant to so I will stop here...*Stay Strong* <3

If I can make it 6 days perfect, I know I can get this...I just gotta make sure to be extra strong and determined on certain days. I posted on the ABC thread on the dieters section, but guess I'll post here too =] I'm currently on day 5 and feeling quite good about this~

My guidelines for myself includes trying to stay at or slightly under the daily cal allowances, tho if I go 50-100 over, I won't beat myself up for it. If I go even farther over, however, I'll simply try and workout some more on top of my usual workout routine~

Ah... good to hear I'm not alone, but on the other hand, I wish we both weren't facing this of course. It's just discouraging to mess up suddenly after a period of doing well and actually seeing results. I'm upset because the visible progress should've been enough for me to keep going...but nope =T Also difficult because I've been at the house by myself a lot, and even when I'm not alone, I keep heading towards the kitchen and eating whatever I can. Hi everybody,
First day on this webpage - i do want to loose weight - i am passionate though about how the body works (which sounds weird as i want to be skinnier and skinner - obsession!) I like that diet, though it is a diet that is only going to work on a short period of time as in as soon as you quit/stop, you body that has been put on the starvation mode will start stocking the food (as in bad fat) *edit* and stock the last 50 as reserve... so if you fast before you are going to have a high kcal intake your body will automatically stock some of the food in case it is going to starve again anytime soon... Have to stay constant.

I have lost about 20 pounds, and did eat very little kcal - very healthy - fruit veg, no carbs -- though i kept eating breakfast and diner (approx same time - very little kcal) and snaks during the day - like say you are not hungry though "taste" your boyfriend's food - so you get something but not a full meal.. Ate less than *edit* a day and was active all day and never fast...

I will try this diet - though no fasting! :) Hard as i just moved in with my family again... going to be hard...
but will try.

good luck everybody!

~hopeful~

New to the forum but very excited to try this diet out. I have done so many diets and have lost and gained and then lost and gained. I am going on vacation this July and really want to hit my target weight. I just started this diet today and actually doing good, guess we will see how it goes when I drop to fewer calories.

This diet seems like something I can actually do so I don't starve all the time, I can still eat little meals so my husband wont wonder whats going on. Good thing you eat fewer calories since I usually try and burn 4 to 500 calories at the gym every night! Good luck!!

Update:
Wanted to send an update out there just in case I can't get back on tonight. I am finished with day 1 and went over by 69 calories. BUT I have yet to hit the gym and will easily burn those and then some calories off. I am a little hungry but *edit* does help curb that.

I don't understand why people change diets how they want.
ABC is crazy anyway, but with fasting days before, you will totally sink into starvation mode and weight loss will be limited in the next days.I advice you to try to stick to it.I think on starting it, I was planning days ago, but again personal issues and troubles with my mind. But I've been gaining weight and looking bulky too!! xblindmyeyesx, we boys here are rarе, you have my support anytime if you want it.God bless.

hm yeah, abc is crazy and i guess your body will go into starvation mode anyway. no matter if you do fasting days before or not. but yes, fasting days before are going to make it even unhealthier. or something.
anyway... i was planning on starting today but i screwed up and binged. so i'm starting tomorrow. this time i'm really going to pull it through. last time i stopped cause i was concerned about my health. hm.
good luck to you guys though.

I'm always in the middle of a "HEALTH FREAK/F'CK HEALTH - BE SKINNY" mood frenzy!
When I'm eating normally or binging I tell myself: "starve yourself to be perfect as you want, don't mind the health.Look there are so many people starving, doing fasts and they are alive."These are my calming thoughts.
Then I start the extreme diet and the insomnia comes, my hair starts falling, mouth hurts and then i start panicking about every single pain I have in my body. When my stomach hurts I'm imagining something is rupturing and I'm going to die in a minute. This is sick!

i know what you mean... eating doesn't make you feel good and not eating doesn't either. it sucks either way and it is sick. everything about this is sick.
i'm sort of wondering how much longer my body's going to make it. bingeing, restricting, b/p'ing, restricting, etc.
it's stupid to think you can do this without damaging your body. i know my heart isn't ok. it's worse when i'm in a bingeing phase. i'm not exactly keen on dying of heart failure. so i have got to stop.
and yeah... insomnia sucks big times. hair loss is even worse. but i don't care. i need to be thin. (gosh.. i tell people how dangerous and bad restricting is all the time. i should learn to follow my own advice. it's pathetic. ^^)
and what exactly makes your mouth hurt? i never get anything like that...

When I don't get enough vitamins or something, my whole mouth gets these bad cuts that bleed and hurt. This is actually my alarming signal that I'm taking the diet too far.Other is when my eyebrows start to fall.I've got periods where I would just touch them and they would fall on my fingers.I'm so happy I completely recovered them! At a point I thought I was going to go bald 15 years old.Anyway, I'm the same as you.I'm non stop talking about healthy eating and how dangerous diets can be and people think I actually lose the weight by some great and slow methods.Yeah, right! Who am I kidding? I want to be thin after all too.And I'm not now! I feel average.People now tell me I look like "strong man"!Some guys will think this is a compliment but for me this is proof that I have really PUT SOME WEIGHT, it's visible for people!I'm happy that most of it it's muscle, so I guess it's not disgusting as fat.Cuz I binge but exersize alot. I need to get to 140 and then slowly go down to 130-125.

OK, so I decided, tomorrow I will start restricting! Don't know what diet, but it will be less then*edit*.I'm taking *edit*I'm kinda scared but I want to clean myself from all that CRAP I ate.Pray I don't poison myself.:0

really? hm i've never heard of that mouth-thing. also my eyebrows are luckily not falling out. my hair is though. i've started taking multi vitamins now. maybe i should have done that earlier.
and oh yes i HATE when people tell me that i look good or pretty or healthy. being called healthy is actually the worst. i need to be skinny and i know that when i'm really skinny, nobody ever calls me healthy because it just doesn't look healthy. it looks sick. so for me, looking pretty, good or healthy eqals looking fat. which is stupid but i can't help thinking that way.
and be careful with the laxatives. i took like 11 yesterday which wasn't exactly a good idea...
anyway... take care :)

I should have been sleeping at the moment, so I don't feel the other effects of laxatives like pain in the stomach, but someone is ringing on my phone all night! I hear only strange breathing.I can't mute the phone, cuz I'm expecting a call anyway.I'm getting worried.Sorry it's offtopic but I just got the worst call. It's again hidden number, it was breathing heavily, then told my name which scared me.I hope it's just coincidence cuz my name is the most popular in my country. If this is a personal agenda... too much for me to handle!

gosh that sounds scary... maybe it's just been a coincidence after all. or one of your friends playing you a prank? i mean.. it's saturday night so maybe they are out partying, being drunk and drunk people do that sorts of stuff, right? ^^ are you living on your own?

I thought about it, but I don't have much friends, don't know who would do such a thing.Maybe someone from my class that hates me, there is one boy that is copying me and trying to "outshine" me.
It's becoming stalker-ish, I'm very concerned.
My pills havent worked yet!10 and more hours passed... I need to poo.

walking helps. or drinking coke. ^^

i'm already over *edit* today. :( i had this yogurt and i thought it was 100 cals and then i looked it up on the internet and i was actually 200 calories. seriously?! who makes light (!) yogurts that have 200 calories? this sucks. now i'm at *edit* and i already feel a binge coming "because i have failed anyway and so it doesn't matter". yes it does matter! it does make a huge diffence if you're 70 cals over the limit or 7000. fat-me doesn't seem to see it this way. fat-me wants to binge.

either way. i'm going to have to start at day 1 again tomorrow.

The laxatives did their job wonderfully :).I'm over *edit*too. But it's mostly healthy stuff.I decided I will try fasting diet that is - *edit*.It's more easier for me like that, because I would need the energy for the end of the school year.I'm playing in my school basketball team, so I don't think I should risk and collapse in front of everyone.I actually hate that I have to run every single day and exersize in my school with the other boys.I think if it wasn't that I would have lost all the weight. But when I do this kind of exersize and don't eat I start getting really sick and my vision is blurry.
It's so pathetic and dangerous, but I'm waiting for the end of school not because I want to rest, but I will have all my body to try different diets and put myself in fasts and all that.

*edit*

I'm starting the *edit*diet tomorrow, which is essentially the same principle, except you generally do eat *edit* Usually alternating between approximately *edit* is what's recommended, but I'm planning to alternate between *edit* for the first ten days or so to give myself a kick-start, then go up to *edit*
I've started a thread about it and I'll be blogging, maybe you'd like to give it a try? :) You could modify it as necessary, of course- I think most of us are :P

I've seen that some of you added some calories to ABC because the given calories are extremely low.
I too find it totally difficult to stick to the calories (I am married and a mom and have to pretend to eat normally during meals too...), and I was wondering if anyone of you adds the calories that you burn from exercise to the daily cals?
Do you think that would be ok or is that cheating? :)
Or what do you find appropriate to add to every day? 200 cals? Wouldn't that be too much?
*Sigh*... I'm just scared to gain weight if it's too many cals or binge if it's not enough... Please help! Thanks so much!!!

I'll give it a go. But i'll probably fail because my family are all concerned about me and force me to eat. Usually I end up giving in and then going on a mass binge.
I'd like to know if anyone has had any success with this diet? Thanks :)

I know what you mean...on weekdays at school I always fast and I find it easier. I don't know why, but when i'm at home it's harder to fast...well for me.
Day 1 on this diet and i've already failed. Everything was okay till after breakfast. I thought avacado's weren't so bad and I didn't know how many calories they contained...I ended up eating quite a few.
Breakfast, fruit n fibre (207 calories...i think)
avacado's
green tea
----------------------------
tea with almond milk
two quorn hotdogs.
Then I went on a binge and ate quite a few biscuits. But I purged them. Guess i'll just have to start again tomorrow :|

Pretty new here and currently on my second day of the ABC diet and still going strong, but I'm just curious, do you subtract the calories burnt from your daily exercise from your total intake? I haven't been doing that so far, so I've not been "cheating" as such, but I'm just wondering.
Also, when do you begin to lose weight? I've been hearing talk that it only starts after the first couple of days.

So proud of myself. Started this diet on Friday and in (nearly) five whole days I've lost 10lbs. Eeeeeeeeh, so happy. I had a bit of a shake up with the lack of food and the amount of exercise I was doing on the way to college Monday morning, but I *edit*

Well I've done a cleanse over the weekend and kept a record of everything I've eaten for the past 4 days and since I'm pretty much in line with ABC so far, I'm going to start today from day 4.

So just *edit*tomorrow, although I think that may be tough! alot of green tea I think!

Would love to know if anyone else is going through it to, will keep reposting to let you know how I get on and if I see any results.

I'll probably not do it for the full 50 days, just 36 since I go to Spain then haha! Hope everyone's doing well!!

Hello :) I don't know really where to start being new and all. Well I could start with just saying that I didn't mean to start any diet but yesterday I got fed up with the way I felt about myself. I needed a change. So I ate *edit* yesterday all together, and it felt.. amazing. I felt powerful and that I could go on forever with feeling so empty and light. So I decided to start the ABC diet, after I read this thread here :) So inspirational, people here really seem to want to push themselves, just like me. So what do you say? Welcome a Finnish girl in as well? I promise to try my hardest, pushing the limits, I swear!

Anyone know where I could get a cheap scale here in the UK as I live at my boyfriend's house (btw, no, he will not like me eating so little, but he wants me to be happy and this is the only way I will ever accept myself - thin) and they haven't had the time to invest in one? I'd LOVE to see my progress going through these 50 days in my weight. I want to brag to myself how much I lost after the 50 days :D

Just wondering if anyone is still sticking with this diet and how far and much they have lost. Would love to start on June 6th. Right now I am doing a liquid diet to help prepare my body. I have a detailed menu of everything I plan to eat for that caloric day and my workout agenda. I find that if I have a set menu in order I don't think about what I will eat and therefore I hopefully won't BP. Also wondering if anyone has ever gone over the 50 days. thanks
