I've noticed my hair starting to thin out since starting my diet. I'm not so sure it's because of my diet though. I think it's just male pattern baldness starting to set in but it sure is making me depressed. My hair was my one really good trait.
I'm going to try some OTC stuff and hope it works. I may try some natural remedies too.
So depressing.

MPB can be pretty tough, a friend of mine started balding at like 19, he just wore hats, absolutely everywhere. Another friend who is starting to bald now in his 30s decided to just go with a clean shave, and he looks pretty badass.
You can let MPB control you and destroy your good mood, or you can empower yourself with this change coming up in your life.
Er, I was trying to be nice but it kind of sounds like a lecture, sorry, but all I can say is I'm sure there's more to you than nice hair (and when I look at my boyfriend I see a cute guy, not a balding guy, he's thinning out too).
..... I know quite a few guys with thinning hair around my age... We canadians just smoke too much pot, maybe :p

Thanks FatKat. I looked at a box of Rogain today and it said it only works on baldness on the top of the scalp and not for receeding hairlines which sounds silly. I'm going to try this company called Regenex next.
My dad is bald too but my grandfather never went bald and I was hoping to have his genes.
I've always heard that the genes for MPB come from your mother's side of the family. Was or is your mother's father (your grandfather) bald or had a receding hairline? You were right to assume that diet can affect your hair but if you are eating a healthy diet, then that shouldn't be it. It could also be stress related but usually it's genetics. If it bothers you, I'd do like the previous poster said and go with a clean shave.
rogain only works on the top bald spot and not hairlines? that doesnt really sound right. makes me question the whole procedure lol
im experiencing sort of the same thing. i havent been in 'top-notch health' for a few years now, and i definitely notice it in my hair. i rarely cut my hair and its down past my shoulders, but its noticeably thinner, many split ends, and its weakness sometimes causes the ends to 'break' off as i run my hands through it. ive recently been using leave-in conditioner and that actually seems to help the thinness and breakage but nothing for my high hairline. i cant actually tell if my hairline is receeding, so theres a chance its all in my head [which doesnt help you i realize]. the 'hair gene' is carried by the mother and skips a generation, so if your mothers father never went bald, there is a very good chance neither will you. but there are always cases showing otherwise so dont hold me to it.
i joined this forum yesterday in hopes of some sort of motivation to progress to a healthier lifestyle, so hopefully in a short time i should be able to let you know from personal experience whether or not a healthier life will reveal healthier hair..

My maternal grandfather had a receeded hair line but he never went bald. He always had a G.I. cut though so it was hard to tell really. I just remember it was like iron bristles when I was a kid. He died when I was only 8. My memory of him is faint.
