This might sound like a strange question but what is the best kind or exercise that is quiet, i.e. doesn't involve jumping about.

My floor boards are really creaky and i need some exercise that will not only tone but also burn fat that cant be heard by other peopl in my house! I know some yoga and pilates but does anyone know of anything else that works?

thanks
xx

Not a strange question at all. For myself, I HATE when my family sees/hears me exercising, they've made fun of me and stuff.

There's sit-ups and push-ups, etc, but for something more aerobic I like to lie on the ground and pedal my feet in the air like I'm riding a bicycle. I put on a playlist and pedal for a song, then stretch or walk around for the next song, then pedal for the next two songs, or whatever.

Or you can do some leg lifts. When I exercise, I usually lift each leg straight up in front of me about as high as my waist, about a hundred times total for each leg.

Or you can do this: Start standing up with your arms reaching up above your head, then bend your knees so you drop down to a huddled-over position, with your hands dropped down to touch the floor. Then raise yourself to the starting position with a slight jump. Repeat this movement quickly as many times as you can. I find it really hard! I can only do it like 25 times, then I have to stop for a while. But it's pretty quiet.

Or you can walk around.

Or you can step up and down onto something like a stool, a block, or a stair. Having to lift your body up makes this harder than just walking.

Or take an opportunity to exercise when you're alone or at night when everyone else is asleep. Or, I turn up some music really loud sometimes to drown out some noisier activity.

I thought I was the only one who was afraid to exercise in front of people! Now I don't feel so crazy. But I have the same issue w/the creeking floors its why I exercise when no one is home.

I like to do wall-sits.
They are amazing for toning your legs.
You could also try laying on your back with some light weights[a small-ish book, canned foods... etc.] and lift them up like you're doing a bench press.

I know it's not much but
Whenever I stand or lay down I usually just move my hips around.
It let's you multi task so your not just excersining.
It's also helpful because if your parents are suspicious you can tell them you were doing whatever it was while you were excersining.
I usually do this while I play wii and I tell my parents that I'm just swaying to the music or something, it completely works!
