They say that the daily caloric intake for a woman should be 2000cals a day, but the problem is, what about short people, or non-active people? Calories not used are stored as fat, and the smaller you are the less cals you need! I watched a show on discovery channel about a 2'11" man who was eating a 2000 calorie diet and he weighed over 114lbs, and was clinically obese!
I think they need to better the the scale at which they determine the caloric intake per person!

Yeah, 2000 calories is an average, I guess, but it would be a ridiculous amount for some people. A short, sedentary person could end up overweight on 2000 cals/day, while a tall athlete would be starving. And then people's age and genetics affect metabolism.... so yeah.

Have you seen things online to roughly calculate your daily calorie needs, like this? (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) It makes a calculation based on age, height, weight, and stuff. I don't know how accurate it is, but it should give you a general estimate.

And I thought I'd read somewhere that most adult women should be consuming more like 1600-1800 calories? I dunno. They shouldn't make such statements, it's so different for everyone.

i think that 2000 cals is for average height, averagely active people... you cant just take it for granted, use a calulator to work out your BMR, and RMR.

I just used that calculator and it says for extreme fat loss I need to consume up to 958 cals a day which is good as I'm restricting on 900 a day. I'm 5ft and 123lbs. Thanks for putting that link on it's really helped me feel positive about loosing now. x
