Just wondering how many people like this are on here?
Also, if anyone is learning or would like to learn another language, which language and why?
i was born in england and everything. im 100% english
but i have this obsession with indonesian culture and nature and everything haha, so yeah..im learning bahasa indonesian, which basically means "language of indonesia" hahahaa! :)
it would be lovely to know indonesians on here..i have lots of indonesian friends already, but to find some on whyeat would be cool :)
anyway, goodluck with the irish! :)
I'm 0% English (or related), yet I've always been in love with the Isles so much so as my classmates actually nicknamed me "Brit".
Which I love. <3
P.S.: I'd love to learn Celtic languages, too. They sound like the language of fairies or angels! <3

I am a native english speaker but I've learnt French for nearly four years, can do conversational German and Japanese (not really good though), and I wasnt to learn Russian and maybe Italian for travelling - Italian will be hard though cause there's a lot of local dialects.
Russian sounds good to learn at the moment though and hopoefully I can end up moving to the UK which will get me a little bit closer to nicer places.

I speak English and only English
I did learn French for 5 years of my school life but pretty much most of it went out of my head after the exams,I only managed to get a D anyway so I guess that shows you how much I suck at languages.
I really want to learn Japanese though ,I'm going there for my 18th instead of having a massive party.

English isnt my first language either. But i am able to speak/type it very well. Im a hardcore gamer. Even tho i live in the netherlands, i prefer talking english over dutch. I even talk to myself in english. I think in english. But, thats probably not a good thing...... more like weirdo thing. Just talking to myself is kinda weird too, but its the best company in the world.

Aw. Dont feel too sad about ur own language. I love the way the germans sound. There words sound so funny. Me and my father are always shouting german insults, if things go wrong, just because they sound so hilarious.

Haha! No, I think German is really pretty too... Although English has a lot of diff influences I think that American English sounds VERY diff from German.
In school I studied French, German, and Spanish although I quit German after 4 years when my teacher said I was speaking German with a Spanish accent :)
English is for sure the only language I'm fluent in but I can speak conversational Spanish and understand quite a bit of it, understand a bit of German (act funnily enough, I write German better than I speak it), and understand a teeny bit of French.
I love languages though so I'd love to refresh myself :)

lol! i think the same way as something-blue! i learnt german after learning english and found the sound of it very tough and sometimes find it really difficult to understand german grammar...
my first language is english and japanese, because my mum taught me both together when i was young. well, i can't remember how it was like, but once i read a report about how english and japanese utilise totally different parts of the brain and i was actually glad my mum taught me both. haha
i love studying languages too :) comparing the different languages really cracks me up sometimes. i also speak chinese and am trying to pick up spanish! but it's difficult :\ maybe i've already put too much in my small brain. :\

I absolutely love the German language! I learned it at school and was really good at it. Then, of course, when I left I forgot most of it, which devastates me to this day.
The only things I can say these days are ridiculous things like "Er ist ganz scharf auf Gummibarchen". Oh, and courtesy of my oral exam, I will never forget this (I don't know how to make an eszett on my keyboard so do excuse that):
Letzten Juni habe ich mein Arbeitspraktikum in eine Schule gemacht. Die Schule war ganz gross mit dreihundert kindern und dreizig lehrerin.
Jeez, thanks. That's really going to help me out in Germany!

After my Japanese gets to a level I'm happy with (I'm above a converstational level but below understanding newspapers and stuff) I want to learn Korean.

I'm from Germany and I grew up there, so my mother tongue's German. My fathers from Finland, but I didnt grow up with him, and after a year of studying in Finland I'm still struggling with Finnish.
I learned English, French and spanish at school, though now Im only studying English and French. I also know quite some Romanian as I worked there for a year and am currently learning Swedish.
I would love to learn Dutch, Norwegian, Danish and Russian...so many languages, so little time:-)
On a site note: I find it amazing how well you all speak English. Must be the practice from posting on WE. I always consider this as 95% for me, 5% for my English skills, haha!

Ha, well my first language depends where I'm living at the moment. I'm living in the States now, so I say my first language is English. When I live in Sweden, it becomes Swedish! :)
I learned English first but then also learned Swedish... So the Swedish is so intertwined in my brain that sometimes it feels like it's taken over!
I'm also learning Finnish right now... Opiskelen suomea... :) I have some friends who are from Finland and I think the language is pretty!
I've also studied Irish, Latin, Japanese, French and Icelandic, but I speak none of these fluently.
I say I collect words!
