I had to buy it when I saw it. It was a lonely gray square with a razor blade glued to it, and that's it. I sure feel like that some days, so I bought it. It was only $7.
It's a group called Habitat and the album is Code Gray. It's a very somber soundscape CD as you probably guessed. It's apparently only available here in Los Angeles and I just happened to stumble upon it. I really like this type of music for some reason. I'm very lucky that I found it. Sometimes it's good to live in a big city like L.A where you can find experiemental stuff that has no chance to go nationwide or global.
I'm listening to it right now as I'm typing this. If the concept of "The lights, they're going out," had a sound, I think I'm hearing it. It's part sad, part fear, part alien, part isolation, and part mercy. These sounds are created with a combination of synthesizers and traditional instruments. It's certainly a heavy thing to listen to, not something you feel like throwing on at the end of a day. But something you hear at 2:00 in the morning when you can't sleep and you're too cold.
I don't guess I would recommend it to anyone, anymore than I would recommend a razorblade. But it's certainly my style, unfortunately. Take it for what it is.
